Overture for Wind Band

The “King Philip the VI Overture” is a majestic musical tribute to His Royal Majesty King Don Felipe VI on the occasion of his proclamation as King of Spain.

Composed for Symphonic Band, this overture possesses the a great martial solemn character while the presence of the brass and percussion resonate as a symbol of the strength and determination of the Spanish nation.

Within the overture we find nods to Asturias, homeland of Her Majesty, Queen Letizia, by means of the sound of bagpipes, and, on the other hand a nod to Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias, Doña Leonor and her love of the cello, through a solo that is found in the middle of the work.

In short, the “King Felipe VI Overture” is a tribute imbued with pride that captures the very essence of royal history and tradition, evoking the magnificence and legacy of a centuries-old monarchy.
