“CENTENARIUS”

Symphonic Proclamation for Wind Band

“CENTENARIUS” is a composition for Wind Band, composed to commemorate the first centenary of Vall d’Alba as a municipality (1925-2025), it was commissioned by the Town Council of this village.

With a martial and solemn character, “CENTENARIUS” opens with an introduction that, from the outset, instills a sense of respect and admiration for the 100 years of history being celebrated. The brass section, with its imposing sound, takes center stage in the development of this introduction. However, the piece does not remain in the severity of the martial tone but achieves a beautiful balance thanks to the woodwinds, whose melodies contrast with the powerful presence of the brass, creating moments of reflection and calm during the presentation of the main theme.

The central part of the piece is a grand bridge in which sonic layers are added, gradually increasing the emotional tension. Each section of the work seems to narrate a chapter of history, with a musical language that evokes the passage of time, collective effort, and the unity of the community.

The finale of “CENTENARIUS” is an explosion of majesty and grandeur. Here, the band displays all its power, with the different instrumental sections converging in a moment of great impact. It is the climax of the work, a sonic celebration that conveys pride in the past, gratitude for the present, and hope for the future. With this ending, I sought to capture the spirit of Vall d’Alba and its history in music, delivering a piece that not only honors the village’s centenary but also projects it into the years to come.
